Assessor-County Clerk Recorder

The Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder department conducts property assessments, as well as records property filings, marriage licenses, birth certificates and death certificates. The Clerk-Recorder also performs weddings at its historic chapel in Downtown Riverside.

Auditor-Controller

The Auditor-Controller provides accounting, audit, payroll, and property tax administration services to county government, cities, schools and special districts. The Auditor-Controller is the chief accounting and disbursement officer of the County of Riverside.

Board of Supervisors

The Board of Supervisors is the governing body of the County of Riverside, certain special districts and the Housing Authority. The board enacts ordinances and resolutions, adopts the annual budget, approves contracts appropriates funds, determines land use zoning for the unincorporated area, as well as appoints certain County officers and members of various boards and commissions.

Building and Safety

The Building and Safety Division is an important element to the county's economic development. This division of the Transportation and Land Management Agency permits and manages the grading, building inspections and plan checks for new construction in Riverside County's unincorporated areas.

Child Support Services

The Department of Child Support Services works with parents and guardians to ensure children and families receive court-ordered financial and medical support. Services provided include establishing paternity; establishing, modifying and enforcing court orders for child support and health coverage.

Clerk of the Board

The Clerk of the Board is responsible for creating and posting the agenda, and all related attachments, three days prior to the board meeting. These elements are critical components to transparency in conducting the public's business. The Clerk of the Board is also responsible for assessment appeals.

Code Enforcement

The Code Enforcement Department is responsible for enforcing County Land Ordinances, as well as various state and federal laws, in the unincorporated areas. Code Enforcement activities contribute to safe, healthy, sustainable communities and preservation of water quality and natural resources. Code Enforcement seeks to work with property owners to strike a balance between enforcement and voluntary compliance.

Community Action Partnership is an organization that provides technical assistance, training, and other resources to Community Action Agencies, nonprofit and public groups funded by the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG), a federal program that allocates funding to states to connect Americans to greater opportunity.

The Cooperative Extension's programs enhance the quality of life, the environment and economic well-being of residents through research and education. Educational programs include agriculture, nutrition, family and consumer sciences, 4-H youth development and master gardening classes.

The Office of County Counsel is a full-service law office that handles civil matters for the County of Riverside. The office provides advisory and litigation support on issues of vital concern to the County and its residents such as health care, public safety, child welfare, land development, environmental protection, public finance, taxation and elections.

The Riverside County Department of Public Social Services provides services and assistance to protect and empower vulnerable people in our community. Services include temporary financial assistance, employment services and nutrition benefits for qualified families and individuals. The department also offers low-income individuals and families access to health care coverage and provides protective services for children and adults at risk of abuse and neglect.

District Attorney

The District Attorney’s Office works with every component of the criminal justice system to protect the innocent, to convict and appropriately punish the guilty, and to protect the rights of victims. The office also works within the community to prevent and deter crime and to promote public safety.

The Office of Economic Development is responsible for many of the programs that support businesses and contribute to the great quality of life in our communities. In addition, the department provides film commission services and foreign trade programs.

RivCoTV provides professional media services for Riverside County Departments as well as operates the county chambers for board meetings, workshops and training sessions. Approved by the Board of Supervisors in 2018, the county PEG program allowed for the implementation of the public access channels. Currently, the team is providing live and scheduled content with AT&T on channel 99, Frontier on channel 36 and Spectrum customers view their PEG content on Channels 1300 and 209.

The Behavioral Health department provides treatment and support services to children, transition age youth (18 - 21 year-olds), adults and older adults who have a mental illness. The department also administers the public guardian program, which supports people unable to properly care for themselves or who are unable to manage their finances.

With a staff of 700 doctors, nurses, health educators, nutritionists, communicable disease and community program specialists the department works towards preventing disease and healthier communities.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is the second largest sheriff's office in California that provides law enforcement services to unincorporated areas and 13 contract cities, manages five correctional facilities, conducts coroner and public administrator duties, as well as provides court services.
